Autism Assessments For Adults

Why Get an Autism Assessment?
Many adults who believe they are on the spectrum are misdiagnosed or not diagnosed if they have been able to manage in a neurotypical world without signficant accomodations.
This leaves a significant number of indivudals who are seemingly “high functioning” but are suffering from social and relationship difficulties, sensory sensitivies, restricted and repetitive behaviors/patterns/interests, a propensity for structure/patterned behaviorand communication issues.
Are you curious if you may be on the spectrum? Most adult patients have questions and concerns about a possible diagnosis, but if the assessment is not done in childhood, they are left searching for a provider to offer guidance in this area.
Many patients with ASD also have a diagnosis of ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, or Depression. An “official” diagnosis can help with requesting accomodations and better understanding your unique needs.
As a provider who treats those on the spectrum- part of your initial intake will be an assessment of these characteristics.

Why Choose Us
I am a Certified Autism Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) - A special certification available only to clinicans who have extensive experience with patients who are on the spectrum and have completed advanced education for autism treatment and diagnosis.
I have worked with clientele on the spectrum for over a decade and enjoy advocating for this population by focusing on the individuals strengths, while treating co-occuring mental health conditions either through therapy, medication, or accomodations.
It can be extremely difficult to find a provider familiar with the complex nature of neurodiversity who not only has experience with diagnosis, but also treatment methods. I also provide ASD informed medication management care for those who require it.

What Happens During the Asessment
The begining of the Assessment will entail discussing your specific challenges and abilites at legnth. We also discuss any developmental issues, and discuss childhood, adolescent and adult symptoms.
I prefer to collaborate with others to get a full overview of symptoms, including family, friends, and/or threating therapists.
I use at least 2 Assessments that are standard of care to diagnose ASD and determine if you meet the criteria for ASD. These include: RAADS-R (Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale-Revised), and CAT-Q (Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire) And the Asipe Quiz (Although Asperger’s is no longer a forman diagnosis)

Feedback and Diagnostic Conclusion
The Assessment may occur over 2-3 visits total, sometimes longer for some individuals. The amount of time varies depending on the severity of symptoms.
After your initial intake and follow up, the results of evaluations will be reviewed with patient including any suggestions and discussions of accomodations needed. A written letter confirming diagnosis and/or recommendaations for accomodations can be provided upon request.
